About Me

My photo
My name is Rachael. I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes back in 2005, when I was 6. I have made this blog so you can read how I cope with my Diabetes, and to know that you are not the only person who has it!

Picnic

Hello everyone! I've just got back from a picnic I went on with my friends. We went down to Reddish Vale. We each had to bring something, so I bought sandwiches and crisps! One of my friends- Olivia- made a Birthday cake for one of my other friends- Amy- as it's her birthday on Monday. It was delish!

Amy also brought her dog, a little westie called Robby. He's so cute, and I was walking him. Although, I think most of the time he was taking me for a walk.

After all of the walking, my blood sugars did go a little bit low when we were out. But that's okay, because my friends and I just sat down and ate the picnic. It just shows that having Diabetes doesn't stop you from doing anything.

Sadly, it started raining cats and dogs when we were walking back. We were absolutely soaked. But luckily, my lovely mum came and picked us up.

Introductions

Hi everyone. I've decided to write my own blog about life with Diabetes. In it will be how I cope with it, how it affects my life and how it makes me feel. I hope you can learn from my lifestyle so that yours will be the best it can be.

To starts with, I'd better introduce myself. I'm Rachael, and I'm 13 years old. I was diagnosed with Type One Diabetes in 2005. I can remember how it happened and everything. (I was painting a little lighthouse when I was in Year 2, when my mum came in to collect me for my doctors appointment. When we got there, the doctor did a blood test on me and told me he suspected I had Diabetes. He sent us up to the hospital.) However, I don't let Diabetes rule over my life! I still go swimming twice a week, and I can still go out places with my friends. It just takes a lot more organising than it would normally.

Don't worry, this blog isn't going to just be about Diabetes; I'll also post about events that are coming up, any achievements and just generally what I get up to. It might take a while to get good, but I hope you'll stick with me.

Here's to a successful blog that I hope you'll enjoy!
